Academy 3 Expectations

Academy 3 Meeting

Do Now:
We have several expectations for our Academy for Staff and Students? How have you contributed to the upkeep of all expectations such as transitions, MCAS prep, IR, classdrive lesson plans, Units, and Perfromance task?

What are areas you still need to work on and need support on?

MCAS Prep - holding students accountable for completing assignment or returning at lunch to do it.
IR - not dismissing students who do not complete reading.
Transitions - returning to class when class lines are as a whole not meeting expectations and starting again. Submitting specific students who didn't meet expectations to the TL via e-mail.
DLPs and PTs - completing mine on Sundays and helping staff who need assistance during elective time or before school

I do what is expected of me. I suppose I could work harder at making MCAS prep more effective, but I have kept up with all of the other requirements of our school and our academy.

Reminding students about the expectations every time I meet with them or see them not following the rules of the academy.

transitions- walked students in line outside of building and academy. Report violations to Mr. Newman. Consistently reinforce positive behavior. "nice lines" "good job"
MCAS Prep created a ppt each week for Ms. Graham and Mr. Mcgowan to give to homerooms each week. When I cover homeroom make sure all students complete the MCAS work. Ms. Graham created a reading tracking log that I use everyday to track IR. I have been using classdrive, but not as much as expected. I do create lesson plans, but they are on word documents. Units have been mapped out. Performance tasks complete for 2nd quarter.

Need to work on creating creative lessons that incorporate technology into the classroom. Consistency in classroom management and issuing consequences. Providing timely feedback to students on homework assignments.

I have contributed in several ways.
-I have increasingly enforced proper transitions with students by keeping them for detention to practice; removing privileges like free time on elective days; etc.
-I have collaborated with Mr. Allen to come up with a set of expectations for MCAS prep and monitored student progress for their ability to recognize and use literary devices (in addition to ISEE prep in the weeks leading up to the test)
-I have enforced independent reading and stressed the importance of it by making students stick to 25 minutes of continuous silent reading whether that takes place during or after school. I also have students complete reading logs for their IR books.
-I still need work finding a less time consuming way to get all the information up on classdrive (lesson plans, units, etc.). It seems that when I have a busy weekend I end up behind the curve and have to play catch up. I think that having the enforcement of the expectation by 11/20 will make me rearrange my schedule to get everything done timely.

I have contributed to just about all the named expectations. i could use support on the class drive lesson plans, and mygradebook, which wasn't listed

I feel I have contributed to the expectations of certain things, but still need to work on other areas.
I have completed:
My Classdrive is all set. (unit, performance tasks, etc)
I make sure that come Monday, and perhaps even ahead of time, all of my lesson plans are posted and I am well aware of the accommodations and mods. that need to be done for the weeks work.

I make sure independent reading is done each day, and I have embedded this into my class routine, and the students know they are being held accountable for it.

I do attendance so I can't comment on the MCAS prep, but I would like to see how or in what way I can act as a support for it (even if it is discussing it with the teachers after the fact) I also don't really transition students all that often, but I think I have done better since the beginning of the year with dismissing them from my class on time.

I still need to work on making sure that I get the laptops in on time!! (Sorry Ms. Brunson!!)
